(57) The invention discloses a chromiumreducing admixture for sintering cement clinker in a rotary kiln and a method. The chromium-reducing admixture comprises the following effective components: at least one of boron carbide and boron nitride. The chromium-reducing admixture and a cement raw material are uniformly mixed and then are sent into a rotary kiln for calcination together, and the selfvariable valence reduction reaction of hexavalent chromium is promoted through the boron-containing component, so that the content of hexavalent chromium in the cement clinker is reduced. According to the method disclosed by the invention, the chromate (CrO4 < 2->) in the clinker is decomposed to generate Cr2O3 and oxygen by utilizing the promotion effect of the chromium-reducing admixture on the self-variable valence reduction reaction of the chromate, so that the technical effect of in-situ high-temperature reduction of hexavalent chromium in the rotary cement kiln is achieved.
