New grinding mill for Hagerstown
The Holcim (US) Hagerstown plant is the most recent US cement plant to order a new raw material mill from Gebr. Pfeiffer, Inc., a subsidiary of the Kaiserslautern/Germany based Gebr. Pfeiffer SE. The order was placed through KHD Humboldt Wedag, as the engineering and equipment supplier for the Hagerstown plant modernization. The goal is to increase the production rate to approx. 2400 t/d and to comply with the new NESHAP regulations. KHD’s scope of supply begins with modifying the raw material feed system and continues through to the clinker handling system and storage hall.
The new raw material grinding mill includes a rotary air lock with drive, MPS 3750 B mill, an SLS 3150 B high efficiency classifier, and GPSE’s pa-tented “Lift and Swing” technology for improved maintenance efficiency. Commissioning is planned for mid 2016.
