Cement plant starts up GPSE grinding
One of Colombia’s newest cement plants, Ultracem S.A.S., contracted with Gebr. Pfeiffer, Inc., a subsidiary of Gebr. Pfeiffer SE, with headquarters in Kaiserslautern, Germany, for an MPS 3350 BC vertical roller mill for clinker along with a complete cement grinding plant. The plant includes a rotary air lock with drive, an MPS 3350 BC mill, an SLS 2900 BC high efficiency classifier, and GPSE`s patented “Lift and Swing” technology which greatly improves maintenance efficiency. The mill is designed to grind a variety of products, ranging from OPC to slag and limestone cements.
In addition to the vertical roller mill, the grinding plant will also include the plant equipment consisting of bag filter, fan, hot gas generator, bucket elevator, weigh feeder, conveyors, feed system with deduster and metal separator, instrumentation and engineering services.
The cement plant is located in Barranquilla, Atlantico, Colombia and the mill began operation in October 2013. All equipment was delivered within 1 year and the erection and start up was completed in just 9 months.
