Delivery of replacement gearboxes within one working day
With ATO5, the program for shortened delivery times, SEW-Eurodrive can now deliver its X and P series industrial gear units even faster. In particularly urgent cases – when the plant is at a standstill – replacement drives can already be shipped within one working day. This is what happened at Schwenk Zement, where a central conveyor belt came to a standstill due to gear unit damage.
Schwenk Zement operates one of its four German cement plants in Allmendingen, Baden-Württemberg. In this plant, which has been in operation since 1889, it produces high-quality Portland cement in continuous operation. The plant is supplied with lime, alumina and silicate from the neighboring quarry via a conveyor belt. When the belt stopped one morning, the cause was quickly found: Parts of the gearing on a gearbox (made by a third party) had broken off. Urgency was now required, because the plant depends on the supply of starting material via the conveyor belt.
On the same day, SEW-Eurodrive was commissioned to offer a suitable solution for the failed drive. A standard gearmotor was out of the question due to the necessary axial fan and the connection to an existing fluid coupling, among other things. Only two hours after contacting SEW-Eurodrive, Schwenk Zement received an offer with a dimension sheet. The replacement gear unit was delivered to the customer the following day and could be put into operation by its plant maintenance department that very evening. The raw material supply of the Allmendingen plant was restored. Schwenk Zement can continue to rely on the short response time of SEW-Eurodrive in the future.
