Largest MPS vertical roller mill for India
Manikgarh Cement (A Division of Century Textile & Inds. Ltd.) ordered an MPS 6000 B raw mill and an MPS 3350 BK coal mill. The company belonging to the B.K. Birla Group of Companies, which is headquartered in Mumbai, will equip the Unit-II of the Maharashtra-based works with vertical roller mills from GEBR. PFEIFFER AG. For the production of the raw meal to be fed to the new kiln an MPS 6000 B will be installed to grind 600 t/h to a fineness of 12 % R 90 µm. The 6480-kW drive is dimensioned acc. to Gebr. Pfeiffer AG’s standard in such a way that the installed power will be about 20 % above the absorbed power to be expected. With an AGMA factor of 2.5 or more referring to the installed drive power, dimensioning of the drive is focussed on operating reliability. The mill sold will be the biggest MPS mill ever supplied to India. In terms of drive power, it will be one of the largest vertical roller mills worldwide. For grinding 75 t/h of fuel to a fineness of 10 % R 90 µm an MPS 3350 BK will be used. Rating of this equipment was based on a grinding test. The customer had sent a material sample to the Kaiserlautern-based test station. The grinding test revealed a specific power consumption of about 10 kWh/t and a very high specific wear. That is why the mill will be provided with appropriate lining in the area of the nozzle ring, the housing and the classifier. The layout of the grinding plants will be planned by engineers from Gebr. Pfeiffer (India) Pvt. Ltd. The engineering services will include the production of general arrangement drawings and the specification of the components to be procured by the customer and will be completed with the supervision of the installation and commissioning of the mills.
