Successful completion of the first VDZ advanced training course to become a „Fachexperte Verfahrenstechnik“ (Process Engineering Expert)

In June, 10 graduates of the VDZ training course for process engineering experts, which started in cooperation with the Düsseldorf University of Applied Sciences for the first time in September 2022, celebrated their successful completion.

Both engineers and experienced industrial foremen acquired in-depth, practice-oriented specialist knowledge of modern cement production and plant technology during the course, which lasted a total of six weeks. The course language was German.

The training sections were conducted as a residential course and were thematically divided into three classroom modules and a practical module, which was intensively accompanied by various online workshops. During all modules, the personal exchange with the participants was always in the foreground, so that the contents of the lessons were often discussed with the lecturers even at a barbecue.

In the first module, the participants completed a Simulex training course and discussed operational situational tasks, whereas the second module focused on the topics of grinding, firing and environmental technology. In the third attendance module, the participants were taught not only by VDZ experts but also by an external lecturer on topics such as cement chemistry and concrete technology. In addition, this module focused on future-oriented topics (e.g. decarbonization, clinker-efficient cements, alternative binders). The course not only provided participants with technical training, but also prepared them for future (management) positions through the acquisition of communicative and social skills in the subject “personnel management”.

During the practical module, the participants prepared a written, practice-oriented project report, the most important findings of which were presented during the final examination. Following this, all participants were able to demonstrate in an examination discussion that they were able to apply the theoretical knowledge they had acquired to various practical situations in their everyday working lives. The examination day ended with a festive get-together and a drink, which was continued in Düsseldorf’s old town. A special tribute to the graduates will take place at the annual conference in November 2023 at the Maritim Hotel.

The continuing education course was very successful overall and was rated positively throughout by the graduates. VDZ congratulates all successful graduates on passing the course and looks forward to being able to train new course participants.
