Excellent occupational safety
The first certificates for this year’s company and employee competitions for occupational safety have now been presented by BVK Managing Director Martin Ogilvie. The BVK congratulates all companies and employees on their continuous efforts to achieve Vision Zero, because occupational safety is not a goal that can be achieved once, but a challenge to be met every day anew.
At Lhoist Germany, in the presence of Management Director and new BVK Chairwoman Alexia Spieler, the gold certificate went to the Flandersbach plant, a silver certificate went to the Hagen-Halden plant and second prize in the employee competition went to Lhoist employees Erhan Tas and Orhan Tas for their proposal for a PPE dispensing machine, where personal protective equipment can be obtained directly.
Kalkwerk Eduard Merkle deservedly received the silver certificate in the Company 2024 occupational safety competition. HGF Martin Ogilvie presented the certificate to Managing Director Hartmut Koch-Czech and those responsible at the plant in Blaubeuren-Altental and congratulated them on yet another improvement in occupational health and safety performance.
Märker Kalk GmbH at the Harburg Schwaben lime works was delighted to receive a bronze certificate after 10 years. In addition to Managing Director Reinhold Ackermann and Plant Manager Stefan Mahl, the foremen at the lime kiln, the occupational safety specialists and the works councils of the lime and cement plant were also present.
In addition, HGF Martin Ogilvie honored André Lindemeier and Alexander Müller from Märker Kalk with 3rd place in the employee competition. The implementation of the employee‘s suggestion for the use of a full-face helmet with extraction and a new staircase with fall protection has already significantly increased work safety for inspection work in the hot area of the lime kiln and reduced risks.
The other certificates for Fels-Werke and Schaefer Kalk will be presented shortly.
