Occupational safety in the lime industry: awards for Schaefer Kalk and Fels-Werke

A reason to celebrate!

Mr. Funk and Mr. Klein, employees at Schaefer Kalk GmbH, have received the third place in the Occupational Health and Safety Employee Award from the Bundesverband der Deutschen Kalkindustrie e.V. (BVK) - including a certificate and a € 500 bonus.

Their achievement? A clever, pioneering solution for safely changing ropes at the lime kilns in the Hahnstätten plant.

In an interview, Funk and Klein explained their motivation, the constructive implementation and the change in procedure for changing ropes. Their work shows how important continuous improvements are for workplace safety.

Dr Kai Schaefer, Managing Partner of Schaefer Kalk, emphasizes the continuous development of occupational safety in all plants. It is a cross-sectional task throughout the company and at all levels.

BVK Managing Director Martin Ogilvie and Technical Managing Director Dr Klaus-Ruthard Frisch emphasize the importance of open communication and constructive exchange on occupational safety issues. There is much to learn from positive examples.
