Federal Minister Svenja Schulze visits thyssenkrupp Industrial Solutions in Beckum
08.08.2019Svenja Schulze, Federal Minister of the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety, visited the Neubeckum site of thyssenkrupp Industrial Solutions. She heard about new products and solutions from thyssenkrupp for the sustainable cement plant of the future and discussed ways to promote and drive the decarbonization of industry. Cement production is not only one of the world’s most energy-intensive processes, it also accounts for around seven percent of global CO2 emissions.

Pablo Hofelich, CEO of the Cement Technologies business unit of thyssenkrupp Industrial Solutions, is convinced that CO2-neutral cement production is fundamentally possible and can be achieved in several steps. “Here at thyssenkrupp we are already very advanced in many areas on the technology side. We offer our customers products that reduce environmental impact and at the same time create cost advantages, making it possible for example to significantly cut CO2 and nitrogen oxide emissions and reduce the use of raw materials, water, fuels, coal and gas.”
In February the non-governmental organization CDP honored thyssenkrupp as one of the world’s best companies in the area of climate protection for the third year in succession. The ranking evaluates whether companies formulate a coherent strategy for further reducing both their own carbon footprint and that of their customers and suppliers. thyssenkrupp was again given the highest rating and included in the Global A List. This list includes around 130 organizations worldwide and only five DAX companies.
