Shop talk in Russia
In the course of the third Weimar Gypsum Conference (March 2017), the German and Russian gypsum associations agreed to begin holding mutual consultations. Therefore, from 12.06.-15.06.2017, a delegation from the Association of the German Gypsum Industry, headed by President Thomas Bremer and Managing Director Holger Ortleb, spent time in Russia for some working discussions. The meeting was also attended by Prof. Dr. Hans-Ulrich Hummel (Knauf Gips KG) and Dr.-Ing. Hans-Bertram Fischer (Weimar Bauhaus University).
The Russian Gypsum Association’s President J. Goncharov and Acting Director Prof. Dr. A. Buryanov did an outstanding job of preparing the short stay. Two rounds of discussions provided ample opportunity for a meeting of the minds on the various assignments. The question of how reciprocal support can be rendered for which issues was also discussed. It was mutually agreed that support should be given to each other for preparing and implementing the respective national gypsum conferences. The next such convention to be hosted by Russia’s Gypsum Association will take place in Minsk/Belarus in September 2018. The substantive part of the present visit was rounded out by an excursion to the Volma gypsum plant in Voskresensk.
