Lafarge sells its gypsum activities in North America
Lafarge North America produces via a network of gypsum plants in the U.S. and Canada plasterboard and jointing material. In 2012 these activities generated a turnover of US$ 310 million. These areas were accounted in the consolidated financial statements since 2011 as assets held for sale. The sale is part of the group’s new strategy introduced in early 2012 to concentrate on its core businesses of cement, concrete and aggregates.
