Hope Cement places its trust in Claudius Peters
Claudius Peters (part of the Langley Holdings group of companies), and Hope Cement (part of the Breedon Group), have successfully completed a major turnkey project at their cement works in the Hope Valley in the Derbyshire Dales, UK.
The project to upgrade and replace the existing kiln feed equipment built with the plant in the 1970’s, and to increase the accuracy and capacity of the system to 200 t/h of raw meal, for Kiln 1, Kiln 2, and a standby unit, was one of the largest Capex projects in this plant for many years.
The challenge with this project was that the new equipment had to be installed while the plant remained in operation and within the existing preheater building, on various floors, the highest some 60 m on the seventh floor, and then put into operation during short shutdowns of each kiln line. Access was very restricted, and naturally due to the kiln lines being in operation, working temperatures were very high, and could be uncomfortable at times.
After lengthy technical discussions, and various discussions on the best options to ensure the best performance after completion along with commercial clarifications to ensure the very best solution for Hope, the contract was signed on the 01.10.2014 with completion in May 2017 due to the requirement of the programmed shutdowns of each kiln line.
Claudius Peters supplied and commissioned:
three 300 screw pumps complete with pump inlet hoppers with dedusting filters and modified pipelines
modifications to existing compressors
three cyclone filters with collection hoppers transport and material transport to preheater inlet via rotary feeders including all necessary access platforms, insulation etc.
Together with the assistance of good local contractors and the project team from Hope Cement, Claudius Peters completed the project on time and with the full performance of the system required.
