Fly ash for infrastructure projects in the Gulf region

On 01.07.2013, the STEAG Power Minerals GmbH and the Hawar Group in Qatar in the Persian Gulf established a joint venture under the name “Hawar Power Minerals”. The aim of the new company based in Doha is the marketing of power plant byproducts such as fly ash for the purpose of recycling, e.g. in the production of cement.

The aim of HPM is to operate autonomously in the region with its own resources as soon as possible.” The fly ash is to be imported to the Gulf region from nearby India. There are many hard coal power plants in India, producing large quantities of fly ash. Further power plants are under construction. The majority of the valuable byproducts are, however, not as yet used.
