Cementos Argos consolidates its internationalization strategy
The Colombian multinational company, with offices in 15 countries, ended the financial year 2015 by reporting record figures, with a revenue growth of 36 %, 57 % of EBITDA and 81 % of net income, positioning itself as the leading company in the business of cement and concrete in Colombia, and as the fifth largest cement producer in Latin America and the second largest concrete company in the United States.
The EBITDA of the United States Region grew 62 %, reaching $ 110 million, and increased by 20 % cement deliveries in comparison with 2014, delivering 3.4 million t.
In Colombia, the company achieved a new record by delivering more than 6 million t of cement. It completed the expansion of its Rioclaro Plant, offering the market 900 000 additional t/a and continued developing the design of the largest production line of cement that exists in the country, specifically in Sogamoso, which will allow serving the central area of Colombia where much of the work of fourth generation roads will be concentrated.
In the Caribbean and Central Region, the acquisition of 60 % of a terminal for receptions, storage, sale and distribution of cement in Puerto Rico is highlighted; as well as the growing market dynamism in Honduras and the participation of Cementos Argos Panama in major works planned for 2016, as the line two of Panama City Metro and expansions of the Rodman Port and the Tocumen Airport, among others.
Additionally, the company opened its Argos Center for Innovation and promoted the use of new materials in construction processes with outstanding results. Due to the above, the organization now offers a portfolio of over 20 value-added products that result in economic, environmental and social benefits.
