All German Dyckerhoff cement plants receive CSC certificate for sustainable business

All seven German Dyckerhoff cement plants have been awarded the seal “silver” of the Concrete Sustainability Council (CSC). Currently, this is the highest possible award for cement plants in accordance with the specifications of the CSC. With the CSC certificate a worldwide certification system for companies in the fields of concrete, cement and aggregates that gears towards sustainable production has been introduced. The Dyckerhoff Lengerich plant was the first cement plant ever certified in Germany.

At an official kick-off and information event in Berlin, where the CSC was introduced in Germany, Dr Thomas Sievert (Head of Quality & Technical Consulting at Dyckerhoff) received the certificates for the German Dyckerhoff cement plants.

The value of the CSC certification arises from the recognition by international systems like BREEAM, LEED and DGNB to assess the sustainability of buildings. Due to the advancing ecological awareness and the increased relevance of “green building”, competitive advantages are generated for certified companies. The CSC system is similar to the “FSC” seal known from wood and paper processing. Certification is carried out in the categories management, environment, social and economy.

Members of the CSC are companies, associations, certification authorities and institutes. The BTB (Federal Association of the German Ready-mixed Concrete Industry) has assumed the role of “regional system operator” and organizes the certification system in Germany both for concrete and cement plants.
