A TEC supplies alternative fuel system to Messebo
In the first quarter of 2013, A TEC was awarded the contract to implement an alternative fuel system, which can handle sesame straw/stalk, with engineering, supply of equipment, civil construction works and supervision at Messebo Building Materials Production Pvt. Ltd. Co., one of the leading manufacturers of quality cement in Ethiopia. The local manufacturing and the erection will be done by Mesfin Industrial Engineering PLC, a sister company of Messebo. To cover preparation as well as dosing of the renewable feedstock to the plant, the system offered consists of installation in two individual areas. Collection and preparation of straw and production of bales will be realized at Kafta Humera while the plant with a capacity of 3000 tpd of clinker is located in Mekelle/Northern Ethiopia.
To allow maximum flexibility, the design will be done in two phases with different plant capacities. The first phase, which will be realized in the current project, will cover a baling capacity of 50 t/h and an alternative fuel feeding capacity to the calciner of 10 t/h. Phase two includes the design for a scale up to a baling capacity of 71 t/h and an alternative fuel feeding capacity of 20 t/h.
The installation of the alternative fuel system started up in the first quarter of 2014.
