Award for OhorongoCement

The Namibia International In­vest­ment Forum awards outstanding entrepreneurial achievements in Namibia. The coveted awards were handed over in Namibia’s capital Windhoek on 29.11.2011. In the presence of State President Hifikepnye Pohamba and the entire government, Ohorongo­Cement received the award in the category “International Investor of the Year”. The award was accepted by Gerhard Hirth (Fig.), the managing director of the ­SCHWENK Group, in the presence of Michelle McLean, Namibia’s former Miss Universe, Theo-Ben Gurirab, the chairman of the National Council, and Hans Wilhelm Schütte, the managing director of Ohorongo­Cement (from left). This award also acknowledges the outstanding commitment of the Ulm-based SCHWENK Group for setting up and operating the most modern cement plant on the African continent. During an award ceremony Namibia’s State President thanked the prizewinners and underlined the important role of successful companies for the sustainable economic development of the country. In the course of a gala dinner, ­SCHWENK also received the “Best Corporate Award”, which was presented by Theo-Ben Guribab, Namibia’s minister for economic affairs and industry and chairman of the National Council. www.bdzement.de www.ohorongo-cement.com
