Gebr. Pfeiffer to supply 100th VRM to India
In 1995, Shree Cement implemented its production Unit No. II at Beawar, Rajasthan, which was equipped with the first two vertical rollers mills from Gebr. Pfeiffer. Unit No. III, a greenfield installation, was built at nearby Ras. Identical repeat orders were awarded by Shree Cement to Gebr. Pfeiffer for Ras almost year by year, with the Units Nos. III to X standing side by side. Unit X ordered in June 2012 has brought the clinkerisation capacity in the area of Beawar and Ras to nearly 12 million tons per year. Shree Cement is now planning to spread its activities over the whole of India.
This deal will see the 19th Pfeiffer vertical roller mill supplied to Shree Cement Ltd, one of Gebr. Pfeiffer’s key customers worldwide.
This 100th Pfeiffer mill for India will be an MVR 6000 C-6 which incorporates the latest technological developments of Pfeiffer vertical roller mills. The outstanding feature of the MVR mill is the innovative “active redundancy” concept. The mill, which will come equipped with a variable number of grinding rollers – in this case six rollers – can be operated even when one or two rollers must be removed from the grinding process because of maintenance.
Since 2000, the business activities of Gebr. Pfeiffer SE, a 149-year-old, family-owned company with the headquarters in Kaiserslautern, Germany, have been supported by Gebr. Pfeiffer (India) Pvt. Ltd., a 100 % subsidiary of Gebr. Pfeiffer SE, located in Noida, Uttar Pradesh.
Among the main reasons Shree Cement Ltd. opted for a vertical roller mill from Gebr. Pfeiffer were the low specific investment cost and energy consumption achieved by the MVR mill. In addition, the mill offers the possibility not only to grind and simultaneously dry and classify the material in one and the same machine, but also to process very moist feed materials such as for instance granulated blastfurnace slag.
The MVR 6000 C-6 grinding plant is designed to produce alternately 270 t/h of OPC at a product fineness of 3500 cm2/g acc. to Blaine or 180 t/h of ground granulated blastfurnace slag (GGBFS) at a product fineness of 4500 cm2/g acc. to Blaine. Depending on its customers’ changing needs Shree Cement will be able to mix the two materials together, producing batch-wise one product (blastfurnace cement). The plant also offers the possibility of flexibly producing various cement types and qualities. The mill with an installed drive power of 6300 kW will feature one of the most powerful drives combined with vertical roller mills worldwide.
