Industry congress with new program structure and new target groups

“Rethinking Sustainability” is the motto the 69th BetonTage. The leading congress of the concrete and precast industry will take place from 11 to 13 March 2025 in the Congress Centrum Ulm. It will present a new program structure, and will address the ecological and digital transformation of the construction industry. What can drive the paradigm shift onward? What will construction look like in the future? What will be the leading role of precasting? All the lectures will focus on these issues and will present solutions. Selected panel discussions will be simultaneously interpreted into English. The trade event will again be accompanied by a comprehensive exhibition with companies and start-ups from the supplier, machinery and software industries.

New program structure

The program structure for the next BetonTage has been revised. The congress, for example, will start on 11 March 2025 with the 1st German Infrastructure Day. This all-day event will be organized jointly with the German Association of Concrete Channel and Sewer Systems The lectures will present trend-setting sustainable solutions for channel and manhole systems as well as for decentral rainwater management. They will likewise focus on new target groups: planning firms for civil and underground engineering.

In parallel, beginning at 1:00 p.m., the penal discussion “By all Rights” for the manufacturers of precast elements and concrete products will take place. Specific legal and economic assistance for everyday operations in coming difficult times is on the agenda.

The official opening of the congress, including the exhibition, will take place at 5:00 p.m. The keynote, following words of greeting, will be by Boris Palmer, Mayor of the University City of Tübingen, who is known for his provocative courses of actions. His contribution “Against the bureaucracy of building” demonstrates how a tangled mass of requirements in Germany delays and may even thwart many important communal projects. According to the former politician of the German Green Party, the proportions for sensible bureaucracy in Germany have long since been exceeded. He demands freedom of action in municipal politics and suggests approaches for reducing bureaucracy.

At the end of the first congress day, the following FAIRbinden industry get-together offers an opportunity for networking in a relaxed atmosphere. Snacks, beverages and musical accompaniment in the exhibition will provide the fitting framework. The large maritime buffet on Wednesday evening will additionally provide sufficient time for personal and professional talks.

The future of building belongs to precasting. Contributions of the congress concerning the production of concrete elements and their use in constructions will therefore present a central theme that runs like a red thread through the program of the 69th BetonTage.

Comprehensive technical program – Brazil as guest country

This year, the participants will be provided with insights into the emerging guest country of Brazil. Iria Doniak, the acting FIB President, owns a precast plant herself. Despite the basic reduction in the two main convention days (Wednesday and Thursday, for the technical program), program diversity will be fully retained. Parallel sessions will also take place in the morning. The sessions were again planned jointly with the technical organizations involved and will provide important creative stimuli for the practice.

The program contributions cover a wide thematic spectrum – from structural precast construction to lightweight construction, from serial building and modular building to additive production and re-use of concrete elements. Selected architectural solutions using lightweight concrete and cast stone will further show the potentials of precast construction in housing and commercial building. The podium discussion Urban design of Living Space is addressed to the manufacturers of concrete block. Lectures and demonstrations within the framework of the practice workshops will pick up questions that arise in day-to-day operations for plant production managers.

Science plays a key role in achieving climate goals in the construction sector. The “Practice-Oriented Research for Concrete” panel will show pioneering developments in the area of concrete technology. Modern concrete and resource-conserving cements play a role here, as does the use of innovative multi-functional concrete elements.

“Rethinking Sustainability also means searching for innovative solutions together with all participants in a project,” emphasizes the organizer Dr. Ulrich Lotz. For this reason, the 6th “Future Day of the Construction Industry” will be held already on 13 March 2025 in collaboration with the construction industry. Target groups are responsible persons from building companies who are architects and consulting engineers.

Market place of industry partners

At the 69th Betontage, numerous companies of the supplier, machinery and software industry as well as start-ups, will once again present their goods and services at the exhibition accompanying the congress. At the “Innovation Forum,” selected companies will likewise inform participants on their products and new developments. Dyckerhoff GmbH, as main sponsor, will make its presentations accompanied by Pemat Mischtechnik, Deutsche Bauchemie and Syspro as additional partners.
