Helwig Hieronymus Sillem: an obituary

Dr.-Ing. Helwig Hieronymus Sillem, long-standing member of the Management Board and Supervisory Board at Gebr. Pfeiffer SE, passed away on January 9, 2024 at the age of 92. During his service, he shaped the development of Gebr. Pfeiffer with his vision and expertise and opened up new perspectives through the intensive exchange between industry and universities. He worked tirelessly for the interests of the company, its customers and employees.

From 1972 to 1977, Dr. Sillem was a member of the Supervisory Board of today’s Gebr. Pfeiffer SE, and from 1978 to 1996 he was responsible for the technical department of the Management Board. Dr. Sillem set standards, particularly with the design and continuous development of the MPS mill for cement, blast furnace slag, raw material, coal and many other materials.

Until his last days, Dr. Sillem was committed to Gebr. Pfeiffer SE and its employees. Gebr. Pfeiffer SE comments on the loss: “With Dr. Sillem, we are losing an outstanding personality, in whose character human qualities and professional skills were united in a special way. We will always honor his memory.”
