Wishing you a great start to the new year!

The new year already has a tight grip on us. Along with our normal everyday tasks, we are now busy initiating planned projects and contemplating new plans. What else does the new year have in store for us?

The question of how things are going in Europe’s construction sector was focused on at the 82nd Euroconstruct Conference in Barcelona/Spain, this past November. According to those experts’ predictions, the European construction industry can expect continued growth, if at a rather meagre rate. This is due in part to the fact that public-sector demand, as one of the most important factors of all for keeping the branch strong, is only expected to increase in a few countries, and then just slightly. The growth estimates for the next three years all across the European construction sector amount to a mere 2.1–2.2 %. For further information on potential future scenarios for the European construction arena, please turn ahead to page 26.

Of course, we are also reporting here on current trends within the branch.

On 22.11.-23.11.2016, attendees from different countries gathered in Buxtehude/Germany to collect the latest information on products available from Claudius Peters Projects GmbH. This year’s open day event centred on packers and palletizers. Read more starting on page 22.

Gebr. Pfeiffer’s Technical Panel “Ready2Grind” met in Fort Lauderdale, Florida/USA on 04.12.2016, to disseminate information on grinding technology. Beginning on page 28, you’ll see which innovations those specialists brought to paper.

Continuing development in the size of vertical roller mills and their corresponding rise in market share as compared to other mill types in the cement industry are only feasible with adequate drive solutions. From page 32 on, we have profiled the different solutions and reviewed projects in which these new drive solutions have already been integrated.

Wishing you an interesting read,
yours
