Votorantim Cimentos inaugurates new plant in Turkey
On 17.07.2017 Votorantim Cimentos inaugurated a new plant in Sivas/Turkey, continuing the company’s strategy of geographic diversification of its operations, with investments in markets with high growth potential.
Built with investments of € 140 million, the new plant in Sivas has a production capacity of 1.8 million t of cement, and will replace the old Votorantim Cimentos facility in the same city, located about 500 km from the capital Ankara and 900 km from Istanbul.
The new unit will allow Votorantim Cimentos to serve strategic regions of Turkey, in addition to increasing the company’s participation in the infrastructure market, a sector that is in constant growth in Turkey.
“This expansion makes our Sivas operation not only more competitive and efficient, but also better aligned with new technologies and environmental regulations,” said Walter Dissinger, President of Votorantim Cimentos. “Our investment plan also includes expansions in the United States (Charlevoix) and Argentina (San Luis) by 2018, which reinforces the company’s strategy of geographic diversification and its commitment to long-term development.”
Dissinger attended the plant’s opening ceremony alongside Turkish officials, as well as members of the Board of Directors of Votorantim Cimentos and company executives for Turkey.
The new plant in Sivas will also be able to meet the growing demand for cement in the Turkish market, where estimates point to an annual increase of around 3 % by 2019.
