Votorantim Cimentos inaugurates a new factory in Bolivia
Votorantim Cimentos, together with its partners in Itacamba Cemento, inaugurated in February a new plant in Yacuses, in the department of Santa Cruz/Bolivia. The investment of US$ 220 million for the construction of the new plant confirms Votorantim Cimentos’ strategy of geographical diversification, with expansions in markets with high growth potential. With a production capacity of 950 000 t of cement, this will be the first integrated cement factory in eastern Bolivia. The facility will lead the country to achieve self-sufficiency in cement production to supply the domestic market.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Walter Dissinger, President of Votorantim Cimentos, Fabio Ermírio de Moraes, member of the Board of Directors of Votorantim S.A., and Bolivian authorities.
Itacamba Cemento was created in 1997 from a partnership between Votorantim Cimentos and Companhia de Cemento Camba (Coceca). In 2014, the Spanish company Cementos Molins joined the partnership.
