ScalingUp3D – Interdisciplinary Symposium on Printable Mortars

ScalingUp 3D, the Interdisciplinary Symposium on Printable Mortars, will take place in Vienna/Austria on 27.06.-28.06.2019. The event is entirely focused on formulation, production and application of drymix mortars by way of 3D printing technologies. The meeting attempts an exchange between researcher, system developers and drymix mortar producers. As always, the meetings provide for ample networking time between the drymix mortar and 3D printing communities around the globe.

The symposium will feature scientific lectures revolving around serial production of building (elements) using several types of drymix mortars.

For the second day a field trip to Wopfing (to the South-West of Vienna) is planned, where Baumit’s pilot plant (Technikum) for their 3D mortar printing system will be visited. In addition, two practical demonstrations of machine automation (m-tec) and curing monitoring (Ultratest) will be presented. Topics will include:

design and formulation of drymix mortars for 3D printing applications

determination of wet and cured drymix mortar properties

conveying, mixing, applying of mortars in combination, in order to achieve exact and durable 3D designs

hardware adaptation and interface programming for 3D applications

concepts for the industrialization of 3D printing using drymix mortars
