In late 2014, FLSmidth Automation, a full-range supplier of automation solutions for sampling and sample transport, preparation and analysis, merged its production operations from Wuppertal, Germany, to Brno in the Czech Republic. Ian T. Campbell, CEO FLSmidth Automated Analysis Technology, gave us a tour of their now significantly larger production facility with a host of well-trained employees.

1 Location – history and course of development

For Ian Campbell, the main arguments in favor of Brno go beyond the city’s geographical location in the heartland of Europe and its good transport links, including a regional airport situated a mere 2 km outside of town. What makes the city so attractive for multi-national coporations, apart from its historical significance, is its abundance of well-trained human resources.
