No more stoppages
In belt conveyor systems, malfunctions and machine stoppages often lead to long downtimes. The production process and product deliveries may be brought to a complete halt. For many plant owners, such a downtime may involve very high costs, particularly in view of the tough international competition. If belt conveyors are damaged, service personnel are usually needed for the repair work, because this has generally involved vulcanization of the belt. However, such specialist personnel may not be immediately available. A vulcanization job can often take four to six hours. The ends of the belt have to be carefully prepared and specially treated. Older and heavily worn belts often cannot be connected up by vulcanization. But with the mechanical belt connectors from Flexco they can be put together in less than an hour – the exact time requirement depending on the belt width and thickness. Plant maintenance personnel can install these connectors simply and quickly. The only tools needed are a portable assembly device, hammers, drills and box spanners.
Whether in sand and gravel works, in the cement industry, in recycling plants or in underground mines – the Flexco specialists have the right type of connector in their range of products. There are types for all belt thicknesses between 3 and 30 millimeters, and for nominal belt strengths of up to 2500 Newton per millimeter. To assure maximum service life of the connection, Flexco always selects the material that is best suited to the environment and the application conditions. This provides the plant owner with a tailor-made and efficient solution, for instance in a moist environment or if the belt conveyor is exposed to high wear and tear or severe corrosion.
Depending on the application, Flexco offers belt conveyor connection systems that are detachable or non-detachable. Detachable connectors are suitable for belts that frequently have to be changed, cleaned or extended. Disconnection is simple, just requiring removal of a coupling bar, and can be used for different belt thicknesses. Another advantage of detachable connectors is that belts can be prepared in a workshop before assembly at the machine. Non-detachable connectors, also called plate connectors, are used for belt conveyor systems with large pulleys, or if high wear resistance and connector strengths are required.
