New CEO at Lafarge Austria

Lafarge Zementwerke GmbH – a company of the LafargeHolcim Group – has had a new CEO since 01.07.2020. Berthold Kren (49), previously responsible for Geocycle Asia at LafargeHolcim, succeeds José Antonio Primo, who will take over the further development of carbon capture projects in Europe for LafargeHolcim. “I am pleased that the group is focusing on climate and environmental services. Lafarge Zementwerke GmbH has been a pioneer in many areas for decades. It is a privilege to be able to work with these employees and to be back home again!”

In his inaugural speech, Berthold Kren said that LafargeHolcim was sending a clear signal in the direction of sustainability and climate neutrality with his appointment. The environmental engineer‘s career in the group began with the development of alternative fuels at Lafarge Zementwerke in Austria, before taking up the challenge at Group level as Head of Energy EMEA in Paris. Most recently he was responsible for establishing and developing Geocycle, LafargeHolcim‘s waste treatment division, in Asia.
