(57) The invention relates to a method for preparing and activating steelwork slags, preferably a LD slag, as a hydraulic composite material for the cement industry. In this process, liquid steelwork slags are cooled in such a way that they solidify at the earliest after four hours. The solidified steelwork slags are comminuted to a fineness of at least 5500 Blaine to 7000 Blaine and are subsequently fed to be used as a hydraulic composite material for the cement industry.
