KHD provides semi-wet process operation training classes using Simulex technology
Recently, KHD provided a six-day process training class to LafargeHolcim’s Volsk plant personnel at the Technological State University of Belgorod in Russia (Belgorod University). Belgorod University is the leading institution for building materials and cement technology in Russia. KHD and Belgorod University have maintained a long-lasting cooperation since the installation of six Simulex training units there almost ten years ago. The training equipment is used for both student education and commercial process training for the Russian market, and is partly offered and executed by KHD’s Moscow office.
For the Volsk training class, the number of Simulex training units were increased from six to twelve and the Simulex software was updated to the most recent model, which supports wet, semi-wet, and dry processes. The Simulex model for the semi-wet process was developed specifically for the Volsk project in order to simulate the plant production conditions realistically. Besides providing the entire model for LafargeHolcim, the model will also be used for future training and service for other semi-wet cement manufacturers.
Ten plant operators, shift supervisors, as well as process engineers from LafargeHolcim participated in the class. The training program started by introducing the components of a semi-wet plant, then plant operation was simulated using KHD’s Simulex. With the guidance of the KHD team, the trainees learned to handle the various challenges posed by semi-wet operation. At the end of the class, all participants were able to successfully run the entire plant – from cold/shutdown condition to full capacity.
