It’s all in the mix!
As a trade journal, we are known especially for our technical papers, and we publish the latest research findings from institutes as well as educational establishments and research facilities worldwide. In this issue, the technical papers are focussing, for instance, on the effect of Portland cement treatment in a vortex layer apparatus (from page 28), the solidification of simulated borate liquid wastes with alkali-activated slag cements (from page 46) and the modelled fate of sulphur and chlorine in rotary lime kilns (from page 66).
However, we are also presenting field-oriented reports on current projects in the industry. In this issue, we have cast our net very wide: in our section on plant reports, we present easy maintenance for the clinker cooler (from page 22) and the modern production of SRF in Austria (from page 26).
Interesting new products in this issue are the Polysius graphite seal (page 18) und a new planetary gear unit for roller presses (page 19). You can find out more about the new Beumer strategy “The best, not the biggest” from page 21.
On the first few pages, we provide you with brief and concise information in the news from the industry. You can find out that KHD is supplying Holcim Argentina and the Conch Group is ranked 63rd in the 2017 Top 500 Chinese enterprises in manufacturing (page 14). You will also find information on the financial results of HeidelbergCement and LafargeHolcim for 2017 (pages 16, 17). The short report that Eberhardt GmbH and Schwab GmbH, both specializing in lime kilns, are merging (page 10) is occasion for us to explore the background to this in an interview in a forthcoming issue.
You can look forward to it!
Yours
