Chair of Building Materials Research welcomes Professor Thomas Matschei

On April 1, 2020, Professor Thomas Matschei was officially appointed Chair of Building Materials at the Institute of Building Materials Research, ibac for short, at RWTH Aachen University. 

Between 2017 and 2020, Thomas Matschei was Professor for Concrete Materials and Repair of Concrete Structures at Dresden University of Applied Sciences. Born in Thuringia, Matschei studied civil engineering at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar. He completed his doctorate on the subject of “Thermodynamics of Cement Hydration” at the University of Aberdeen, supervised by Professor F. P. Glasser. Subsequently, he has held various positions at LafargeHolcim, Switzerland, gaining extensive experience in research and development, application consulting, and marketing.
