Cement capacity in Tanzania expanded
In Tanzania, HeidelbergCement is constructing a new cement mill with an annual capacity of 700 000 tonnes at its Wazo Hill plant, some 25 km north-west of the coastal metropolis of Dar es Salaam. The investment of US$ 40 million also includes the construction of a new clinker and a new cement silo as well as the installation of new cement bag packing and dispatch facilities. The increased capacity allows HeidelbergCement to better serve the growing demand for cement in Dar es Salaam and in the whole of Tanzania. Commissioning of the new mill is scheduled for late 2014. Once commissioned, Tanzania Portland Cement Company (TPCC), a subsidiary of HeidelbergCement, will have a total cement capacity of 2 million tonnes annually.
