Think and act globally
Although the building boom has started again, increasing energy and raw material prices in almost all world markets, however different, are a growing challenge for cost-efficient production. Consequently, it is no wonder that these topics will be dealt with and discussed in a highly controversial way during the international building material conferences, which will take place in the last quarter of 2011.
In the middle of October, the Turkish cement industry celebrated its 100th anniversary, as ZKG did with its anniversary issue in September, and organized the 11th Technical Seminar in Izmir. ZKG INTERNATIONAL was there and will report on this event. About 300 representatives from home and abroad were expected to exchange views with representatives of worldwide leading associations of the cement industry, among them the Arab Union for Cement and Building Materials, the European Cement Association, the China Cement Association and the
Cement Manufacturers’ Association of India. Later in November, the 12th NCB International Seminar on Cement and
Building Materials will be held in India from 15 to 18 November 2011 as well as the 8th Arab International Conference and Exhibition on “Environmental Protection in Cement & Building Materials Industries” which will take place in Jordan from 28 to 30 November 2011.
Global networking and knowledge transfer - these are also the goals that we pursue, amongst other things, within the framework of a longstanding cooperation with national and international associations, institutions, organizers and companies. And the articles in this issue deal with current problems: Antiwear solutions, concepts for substitute fuels, promotion of junior staff and plant efficiency are only a few topics we have compiled for you.
