100 years experience
The first issue of „Cement - Mitteilungen der Centralstelle zur Förderung der deutschen Portland-Cement-Fabrikanten“ (“Cement - Communications of the Central Council for the Promotion of German Portland Cement Producers”), the predecessor publication to ZKG, focusing on technical, economic and association law topics, appeared on November 1, 1911. ZKG evolved from this journal after the second world war. Its aim, from its first edition in 1948, has been “ ... to act as an intermediary for international scientific material and its editorial presentation for practical use”. This continues to be our priority today.
The articles published in recent decades have covered a large range of subjects; some have documented contemporary developments, while others remain topical in the industry even today. We have assembled a number of excerpts from ZKG’s highly interesting history for you at www.zkg.de/100. Our intention in our anniversary edition is also that the industry should speak through our pages: with this in mind, we have compiled in a special supplement comments and opinions from our sector on the historical development and the future of this diverse and innovative industry.
Past emphases will continue to be of importance to us in the future, and we therefore place our reliance on the high quality of the articles published and on impartial, well-founded and informed technical and scientific reporting from and for the entire world. In addition, we have, of course, considered how best to position ourselves for the future. You see the results now in your hands: the tried and proven, painstakingly researched contents of ZKG have been reframed in a fresh and modern layout. The new front cover and logo set the accents:
» Our journal’s focus on process cycles and their sub-components.
» Monitoring of the world market and concentration on growing and developing markets.
» Observation of material cycles both in their entirety and in their fine detail.
On behalf of all the ZKG team, I would like to take this opportunity to thank all our readers and customers, co-operation partners and authors for their constant support often over many decades. Stay with us on the road into the future!
