GINO: Starting in a new market

GINO is in the field of power resistors one of the leading companies in Germany. They have a complete range of all kind of resistors, like cast iron, steel grid resistor elements and compact resistors. Applications for the resistors are drive applications like starters (Fig. 1) or resistors for SPRS, neutral
grounding resistors, load banks for test fields and braking resistors. To develop new markets and to face up to the local competitors it is required to place branches and manufacturing plants at site. This is especially valid for the expanding Indian market.

After 1½ year market analysis and establishing customer contacts in the fields of cement industry, power supply and distribution, drive and traction technology Gino has now as subsidiary company of Telema a manufacturing in India. We have decided for this step, because a large economic area like India requires a strong present at site to live up to the customers expectations. The local production includes mainly the manufacturing of the housings, assembling of components and after-sale-service for Gion’s products. With this Gino has a World Class Manufacturing facility to manufacture all kinds of resistors for Railways and industry applications.

Customer liaison and support is continued by the branch in Mumbai. Mumbai as one of the most important commercial centres of India and its central location makes a customer-oriented support possible. Also the manufacturing plant, nearby the Capital of India, is easy to reach basing on the good infrastructure. The advantage of the local production for the client is the combination of quality and customer focus. Direct discussions with the customer guarantee the best technical and most economic solution. Major customers of Gino are coming worldwide from well-known cement producers, cement plant builders and motor manufacturer.
