12th TÇMB International Technical Seminar was a total success
Ms. Çağlan Becan, main organizer of this TÇMB-event, welcomed more than 440 attendees and 71 companies in the name of the Turkish Cement Manufacturers’ Association (TCMA), and led the guests through the programme of the first day.
In his opening speech, Chairman Mustafa Güçlü emphasized the importance of cement and concrete for the Turkish economy and focussed on the sustainable application and production of these materials. He stressed that energy-efficient and resource-conserving production can only be achieved through know-how and state-of-the-art technologies, with Euro-pean standards providing the important basic criteria. “Old thinking must be thrown overboard and new knowledge concerning the application of appropriate technology has to be adopted”, said Güçlü and invited all those present to participate in a lively exchange of ideas and experiences. Jean-Marie Chandelle sketched the future of cement and concrete manufacturing, while his successor at Cembureau, Koen Coppenholle, discussed the diversity of technical and social aspects in his introductory presentation. Europe offers her services as a partner and is ready to share the already-gained experience, as a very broad range of tasks has to be tackled in Turkey and the country’s cement consumption is expected to rise to approximately 64 million tonnes per year.
During the subsequent two-day seminar, subjects related to waste heat utilization, process control, clinker cooling, kiln refractory linings and the employment of efficient mills and controlled pneumatic conveying systems were also presented in detail and numerous industrial examples and case studies were shown. Other topics on the agenda were quality assurance, plant operation monitoring, and the use of alternative fuels and raw materials.
The seminar thus also covered potentials and challenges that only reveal themselves in the course of plant operation and have to be correctly handled with a combination of know-how and appropriate technology.
This 12th TÇMB seminar also offered attendees the opportunity to gather information at the associated technical fair and to enter into discussions with the speakers and industrial experts.
The organizer of the event found that this TÇMB seminar was the best and biggest since 1987. And that this was not just because of the tremendous conclusion with banquet and dance performance, but also thanks to the outstanding speakers and excellent organization, as well as the fantastic venue of Antalya! Teşekkürler ve güle güle!
