Get together

Dear readers,

The cement industry is facing major challenges, and the timetable - the VDZ roadmap - is in place. There are many ways to achieve climate-neutral cement and binder production. Since 1971, international experts from the cement sector have been meeting to exchange ideas and to jointly address the future issues facing the cement industry. The 9th International VDZ Congress from 6 to 8 November 2024 in Düsseldorf will once again provide a platform for global exchange on the key topics of cement process technology and the decarbonization of the entire cement and concrete value chain (see https://www.vdz-online.de/wissensportal/veranstaltungen/kongress-2024 ). Read the comprehensive interview with Dr Martin Schneider, Chief Executive of VDZ, “Evolving the well-established”, on page 24, where he comments on current issues and the main topics of the congress organized by VDZ.

I would also like to take this opportunity to draw your attention to our next issue - ZKG 07/24, which is dedicated to the “Green Challenge”. Many experts have contributed to creating an issue with truly innovative topics. This issue will be on display at the International VDZ Congress. And it will include a report on the plans for the first climate-neutral cement plant, the Holcim plant in Lägerdorf.

Stay tuned and have a good time with this issue
