Sweden’s Cemvision and Siemens AB have signed a strategic partnership to develop and scale near-zero-carbon cement production facilities. Cemvision has created technology capable of reducing emissions by up to 95% compared to conventional cement production by producing circular cement without fossil-fuel energy. The collaboration brings together Cemvision’s breakthrough technology with Siemens' industrial systems expertise and global reach—creating a rare convergence of innovation and industrial capability at a critical moment for climate action. Siemens is becoming an early customer of Cemvision’s “Re-ment” cement within its own supply chain, providing both market validation and demand certainty. Additionally, the parties are also exploring a virtual plant (digital twin) solution to support pre-design activities and value engineering.
“Re-ment” is a circular cement produced primarily from industrial residuals and by-products—materials that would otherwise be discarded. The product consists of two cement binders, using industrial residual products instead of virgin limestone. Up to now, the production capacity of the demonstration plant is about 4000 tpa. The Re-ment product platform covers three different types. The “Rapid”-type achieves early compressive strength, allowing for shorter construction times, higher efficiency in cold weather conditions, and lower cement need in concrete to replace Portland cement. The “Massive” type is for ultra-low heat and high chemical resistance, which makes this slow-hardening cement ideal for mass concrete as well as structures requiring high resistance, while the “Flex”-type combines the other types to meet any application needs.
Andrea Waenerlund, CEO Siemens, Nordics said: “Digital twins and advanced process control can optimize cement production in ways that weren’t possible before. By combining Cemvision's cement chemistry expertise with our digital and automation capabilities, we're creating a blueprint for next-generation sustainable manufacturing.”
Oscar Hållén, CEO of Cemvision, said: “This partnership aligns with both companies’ sustainability agendas—Cemvision’s mission to decarbonize cement production and Siemens’ focus on green industrial transformation. We are looking forward to exploring the full potential of this partnership.”
