Cemex Germany offers new clinker-efficient
Vertua® cement for all screed grades

Cemex Germany has expanded its range of bagged cements to include the Portland composite cement CEM II/C-M (S-LL) 42.5 N “CZ”. This new clinker-efficient cement is the result of many years of product technology development and represents another important building block in the building materials company’s global climate protection strategy Future in Action.

The CEM II/C-M (S-LL) 42.5 N “CZ” impresses with its product performance, which is equivalent to that of Portland cements (CEM I). The good performance in screed in terms of strength development as well as drying and shrinkage behavior has been proven in extensive tests. The practical tests with the screed specialists from Estrichbau Orbanz & Lorenz GmbH in the Lübben region also confirmed its positive processing properties. The screed could be applied without any problems and as planned.

The Vertua Supreme CEM II/C-M (S-LL) 42.5 N “CZ” reduces CO2 emissions during production by more than 55% compared to a conventional CEM I* Portland cement. By providing this cement, Cemex can therefore make an important contribution to the climate friendliness of buildings. This is no longer assessed solely according to their energy efficiency, but also according to their CO2 balance over the entire life cycle. This means that more CO2-reduced building materials will have to be used. Vertua cements enable the production of CO2-reduced screeds for residential and building construction - an essential building block for the successful certification of sustainable construction projects, e.g. German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB), Quality Seal for Sustainable Buildings (QNG), Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) or Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method (BREEAM).

The more sustainable products and solutions of the Vertua family are an important pillar of Future in Action. With this global strategy, Cemex has set itself the goal of achieving net-zero CO2 emissions (CO2 equivalents including all greenhouse gases in the entire value chain) by 2050 compared to the reference year 2020. Cemex is focusing on initiatives in the areas of climate protection, the circular economy and the management of natural resources.
