ready2grind system now in operation in the Philippines

Gebr. Pfeiffer has again set a milestone by selling another ready2grind system, which was successfully brought on line in early December. This deal, which saw the mill manufacturer supply its modular system to Petra Cement Inc., added the Philippines to the worldwide ready2grind references.

Cement clinker, along with gypsum and other additives, is now also ground to cement with low electrical energy consumption on the Mindanao archipelago and more precisely in the region of the Zamboanga Peninsula. The order was a greenfield project, in which the geographical circumstances in the Philippines had to be taken into account during the initial stage of planning. On the one hand, these were the rainfall varying with the seasons and producing constant tropical precipitation: On the other hand, Gebr. Pfeiffer had to cope with high wind loads, which are caused by the site’s proximity to the sea, and with the high risk of earthquakes that the region carries, and that the construction must withstand.

The core of the ready2grind system is an MVR vertical mill, which comes equipped with four grinding rollers. This design allows the mill to continue in operation even when two of the four grinding rollers are under maintenance. The scope of supply includes the ready2grind grinding system itself, from the feed bin to the filter discharge, as well as connected optional modules, such as product silos, a packing plant with truck bag loading and some other small extras.

The Philippines, with its countless islands, is an impressive archipelago that requires considerable effort to ensure the supply to the individual locations. Economic efficiency can only be achieved, if cement production is possible on site in order to keep the transport costs low, because transport is not only by land but also by sea.

Due to the prefabricated plant being delivered in standard container dimensions, the transport of the system to the production site is significantly simplified and the installation times are reduced to a minimum, which enables a rapid start of production on site. This was also of particular importance to this customer and influenced his purchase decision. Being also active in the construction sector, thanks to its rapid implementation, Petra Cement Inc. will now also be able to meet its own reqirements as regards building materials.

The customer also saw an additional added value because Gebr. Pfeiffer service personnel is also available on call in the Philippines for prompt action in the region.
