Holcim awards follow-up contract for second plant on Java

ThyssenKrupp Resource Technologies has won a contract from PT Holcim Indonesia Tbk., Jakarta, to build a second cement plant near the town of Tuban on the northern coast of the island of Java. The contract is worth around 250 million US$ and the plant is scheduled to start production in 2015. “This follow-up order is proof of our good partnership with the customer and shows that our technological solutions and leading engineering expertise are supporting Holcim in the growth of the Indonesian cement industry. We are firmly focused on the markets of the future,” says Dr. Hans Christoph Atzpodien, CEO of the Industrial Solutions business area. Indonesia is an important market and production location in Southeast Asia, and ThyssenKrupp’s engineering specialists in particular have been doing business in the country for many years. The Indonesian cement market is predicted to grow at a double-digit rate in 2013. With a production capacity of 8.2 million tons a year Holcim Indonesia is one of the country’s top 3 manufacturers. The Tuban 1 plant, also being built by ThyssenKrupp Resource Technologies, is due to begin operation in June 2013. For both plants ThyssenKrupp Resource Technologies is supplying state-of-the-art equipment covering raw material preparation, clinker production, cement loading and fuel preparation. A POLAB laboratory automation system is being installed for quality monitoring and control (Fig.). Tuban 1 and Tuban 2 will each have a capacity of 1.7 million tons of cement a year.

A full range of specialist engineering and construction services and a shipbuilding history stretching back centuries are the strengths of the Industrial Solutions business area. High-quality engineering is at the center of our success. Global project management skills, first-class system integration expertise, reliable procurement and supplier management, and a service offering meeting the highest standards form the basis for lasting customer satisfaction. 20 000 employees at over 70 locations form a global network with a technology portfolio that guarantees maximum productivity and cost-efficiency.
