First MVR mill for South Africa
Another African customer decided in favour of Gebr. Pfeiffer’s technology. Following the successful operation of several MVR mills in Algeria, Nigeria, Uganda and Kenya, South Africa is joining the group where installation of an MVR 3750 C-4, which was sold in 2017, has just begun.
For Gebr. Pfeiffer, this will be the first MVR mill in South Africa, excelling not only with highest technical availability but also with its sophisticated maintenance concepts. The new MVR grinding plant, which is being built in the coastal city of Port Elizabeth, will be operated by Osho Cement in a joint venture with HeidelbergCement. TCDRI acts as the general contractor.
The new mill will be grinding 110 t/h of OPC (CEM I) to a Blaine fineness of 3500 cm²/g and 80 t/h of blast-furnace cement (CEM III-A) to 4500 cm²/g according to Blaine. As to the classifier to be mounted on top of the mill, the South Africans rely on an SLS 3750 BC high-efficiency classifier with a high precision cut.
The MVR mill with an installed power of 2600 kW is scheduled to go onstream in 2018.
