The new SECUNORM 610 XDR bag opener from Martor

The SECUNORM 610 XDR is the world’s first safety knife with blade retraction and maximum dirt resistance. Above all, it can be used to open bags of any type and thickness regardless of how dusty, grainy or sticky the bag contents are. The world’s new innovation has already undergone several months of successful testing at well-known Martor customers including the paint and colour specialists Mipa and Brillux, as well as Uniferm, manufacturers of baking ingredients. Also available now is the holster that matches the bag knife exactly.

Dirt resistance

The “XDR” in the product name stands for “extra dirt resistant”. The SECUNORM 610 XDR therefore performs even under the most adverse conditions. “That was precisely our challenge,” says Sylke Wendt, Head of Product Management at MARTOR. “We wanted to develop a cutting solution that doesn‘t exist yet. A safety knife that doesn‘t lose any of its efficiency and functionality, even when there is a lot of dirt.”

Design

To ensure this, the innovation leaders from Solingen have designed their new SECUNORM 610 XDR to be particularly open. Dust, dirt and other particles do not get trapped inside and do not block the mechanism. This means that when the user releases the blue lever, he can be sure that the blade will retract into the knife handle. Even if the blade and handle have previously been “flooded” with dusty pigments, fine-grained granules or viscous liquids. Unlike conventional cutters, whose long blade continues to protrude dangerously, the SECUNORM 610 XDR significantly reduces the risk of injury after the cut.

Cleaning

If dirt gets out of hand, the SECUNORM 610 XDR is particularly easy to clean. It can be cleaned with compressed air, water, alcohol or acetone, and a brush is often all that is needed. The innovative bag cutter is also completely rustproof. In addition to the unpainted aluminium handle, all plastic parts are also metal detectable. This is an additional reason to buy in sensitive industries.

Areas of application

The SECUNORM 610 XDR is an extremely robust and very ergonomic professional tool. Its newly developed special blade has an impressive cutting depth of 32 mm. Ideal for cutting everything from simple film sacks to multi-layer kraft paper with inliner quickly and cleanly. Cardboard and other packaging materials are no problem either.

Target groups

The SECUNORM 610 XDR is not only designed for paint and colour specialists such as Mipa and Brillux or baking experts such as Uniferm. Thanks to its unique setting as a safe and efficient bag cutter, it is just as interesting for the entire chemical industry and food sector as it is for the plastics processing industry and the pharmaceutical, cosmetics and building materials sectors – in other words, wherever bags have to be opened and/or cut in demanding environments.

Holster

The cutting solution is perfected by the matching holster. Users can safely store their SECUNORM 610 XDR in it and always have it to hand. They also have both hands free after cutting - and can, for example, pour out the bag they have just opened without any interference. The HOLSTER 610 XDR, which is also easy to clean and metal detectable, can be worn on a belt or mounted at the workplace. It can be flexibly adjusted in angle.

Awards

The Nuremberg IGR Institute has honoured the SECUNORM 610 XDR safety knife for its outstanding ergonomics. The bag opener also won the German Innovation Award 2024.
