The Spenner Group is securing its cement production in Erwitte in Germany. The company plans to be carbon-neutral by 2045 and invests in a large wind turbine for its electric energy needs. As an important step for the site development and transition, Spenner GmbH & Co. KG signed the purchase agreement for a roughly three-hectare plot of land in the Erwitte South Industrial Park. This new plant section, with the name ‘Hektor,’ shall house the new receiving area, crushing plant, and storage hall for raw materials from the quarry, replacing the existing facilities at the Diamant plant section, where the kiln and cement grinding facilities are located. A 330-meter-long dam through the Spenner lake will serve as the route for the conveyor belt system connecting the new raw material processing facility to the existing Diamant plant.
Dr. Dirk Spenner, Managing Director, said: “With this land acquisition, we gain much-needed additional space for our modernization. A successful industrial transformation now requires reliable infrastructure, planning certainty, and political support. All the investments we are making today follow our roadmap with the clear goal of climate neutrality by 2045. This makes it clear: Spenner is on the right track. Erwitte is and will remain our headquarters. Even though we have grown in recent years and now operate at additional locations, our roots remain here.”
