Misr Cement Group becomes a Corporate Member of WCA
The World Cement Association (WCA) has announced it is welcoming, Misr Cement Group, one of the longest-standing cement and building materials manufacturing companies in Egypt, as a Corporate Member.
Misr Cement Group have manufactured cement and concrete products for over 25 years, with a range of products including: Portland Cement, Sulphate Resistant Cement, Ready-Mix Concrete, and Blended Pozzolanic.
The group works towards operating with a minimal environmental impact, by incorporating sustainable projects into its processes to protect and replenish the environment surrounding its facilities in Upper Egypt. Projects include the launch of environmentally friendly products, planting of trees in the surrounding areas of its plants, safely discarding cement waste, minimal water waste and air filtration systems.
Misr Cement Group is committed to their Corporate Social Responsibility. Being close to the local community, the Group was able to identify the key pillars that now shape its CSR strategy. Some of these initiatives include building cooperation with universities and schools in upper Egypt governorates that aim to support vocational education, reduce the gap between academia and corporate and provide scholars, technical & research calibres with internship programs in institutions affiliated to the Group and the designated universities.
In order to promote nature conservation, Misr Cement Group cooperated with hospitals and governorates to collect solid waste and implement ways to manage and recycle it as substitutes for fuel used in the production process and lower the carbon footprint. Misr Cement Group also organized blood donation campaigns to give back to the community.
Chovet becomes an Associate Corporate Member of WCA
The World Cement Association (WCA) is welcoming, Chovet, an industrial engineering services company, based in Lyon, France, as an Associate Corporate Member.
Chovet has been designing and building cement, lime, and various mineral treatment plants for over 50 years, collaborating with partners ranging from Lafarge, Holcim, Heidelberg, Vicat, Cem’In’Eu, Al Safwa, to the Ministry of Economy and Finance in Benin, on industrial engineering projects across the globe.
The team draws on its engineering and operational expertise to offer tailored guidance on technical challenges including procurement and investment decision support, as well as design and engineering for small and mid-size developments.
Chovet’s work also encompasses sustainability projects, in particular providing feasibility studies to restore, expand, and rebuild on brownfield plants with minimal disruption. Additionally, its in-house specialists and partners offer guidance on major sustainability challenges, including the energy transition and decarbonisation of the industry, specifically advising on alternative fuels, flue gas and waste treatment.
