Looking beyond the horizon

Dear readers,

Summer is vacation time. Some people are still enjoying their holidays, while others have already returned home. This is also a time when people like to “look beyond the horizon”, visiting unfamiliar and perhaps more distant countries.

This is often the case in our professional environment as well. We hear and see what is happening in Germany every evening on the news. Our knowledge of neighboring countries is a little more limited and usually decreases with distance. To counteract this a little, we asked the MPA, the Mineral Products Association (MPA) – the UK trade association for the aggregates, asphalt, cement, concrete, dimension stone, lime, mortar, and industrial sand industries -, and Mike Haynes, Director of MPA Lime, and Jon Flitney, Climate Change Manager at MPA Lime and MPA Cement, responded. Take a deeper dive into the British lime industry and its achievements and challenges. The interview also addresses questions such as what are the most exciting developments and greatest hopes for the lime industry at the moment? We hope you enjoy reading about the work of the MPA in the interview starting on page 40.

Of course, this issue also covers many other exciting topics, such as limestone pelletizing, economical perspectives for conveying and compressing air and special gases, and alternative fuels.

I hope you enjoy reading ZKG 6/2025

PS: ... and I hope you‘ve already spotted the beautiful sunset!
